Boeing Company has officially inaugurated its new African office in Addis Ababa, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics announced. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alemu Sime, emphasized that this move represents a significant milestone in the company's global expansion strategy. "The opening of Boeing's African office here in Addis Ababa is a significant step towards realizing our global vision," the minister stated. "It highlights Ethiopia's increasing importance in global aviation and supports the wider aspiration for a connected and thriving Africa." He also underscored Ethiopia's growing capabilities in transport and logistics, mentioning ongoing infrastructure modernization efforts guided by the National Transport Council's ten-year plan. "Our aim is to boost the sector's efficiency, lower trade transportation costs, and improve connectivity throughout the continent, and this new office emphasizes Boeing's enduring commitment to Africa's aviation industry and its dedication to fostering sustainable growth and innovation across the region," the minister further elaborated. According to the information obtained from the ministry, the inauguration was attended by prominent figures including Kuljit Gatta, President of Boeing for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Central Asia; Ervin Masinga, the U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia; Getachew Mengistu, Director General of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority; and Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, alongside other senior executives.

4th Intra-African Trade Fair Expected to Generate 44 billion USD Worth of Deals

The 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025) which is set to take place in Algiers, Algeria, from September 4 to 10, 2025, is expected to generate 44 billion USD worth of business deals. This prominent trade and investment event stands as Africa's largest trade fair, designed to enhance intra-African commerce and foster connections among businesses throughout the continent. Anticipations are high, with over 35,000 delegates expected to attend, alongside more than 75 country pavilions and over 1,600 exhibitors presenting a diverse array of products and services. The fair is projected to facilitate deals worth an impressive 44 billion USD. Organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in partnership with the African Union Commission and African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) Secretariat, IATF2025 is the ultimate marketplace for African businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs. With access to over 1.4 billion people and a GDP exceeding 3.5 trillion USD, this event is a game-changer for intra-African trade. Kenya Launches First Green Industrial Park in Naivasha

Kenya has officially launched its first Green Industrial Park in Naivasha, a milestone development expected to attract environmentally sustainable industries and create over 20,000 jobs. President William Ruto stated that the initiative aligns with Kenya’s vision of green growth, low-carbon development, and industrial transformation. “The Naivasha Green Industrial Park will serve as a model for sustainable development and climate-resilient manufacturing in Africa,” the president said during the ceremony. The park will utilize clean geothermal energy from nearby Olkaria, and is designed to minimize water and energy consumption. It will host sectors including textiles, agro-processing, and electric vehicle assembly. This public-private partnership is backed by international investors and supported by development agencies such as UNIDO and the African Development Bank.

South Africa’s MTN Expands Mobile Money Services into West Africa

Telecom giant MTN Group has expanded its mobile money services, MoMo, into Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire, marking a significant step in its fintech strategy across West Africa. The new rollouts are part of MTN’s broader goal to double its active MoMo users by 2026. CEO Ralph Mupita said the company is committed to deepening financial inclusion across underserved regions. “Mobile money is a cornerstone of Africa’s digital economy, and our expansion into these two countries reinforces our mission to connect the unbanked population to financial services,” Mupita noted. MoMo will provide services such as peer-to-peer transfers, bill payments, savings, and merchant payments, with a strong emphasis on user security and ease of access. MTN has partnered with local regulators and banks to ensure compliance and interoperability within the national financial ecosystems.

Rwanda Signs Agreement with Tesla to Pilot Electric Mobility Program

The Government of Rwanda has signed an MoU with Tesla Inc. to launch a pilot electric mobility program in Kigali, aiming to reduce urban carbon emissions and promote clean transport. Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery Begins Fuel Production, Targets Self-Sufficiency
